ULI HINES 2025 Student Competition - Honourable mention
The Current Block is a “made in Cleveland” approach to developing a 62-acre former power plant along Cleveland’s eastern lakeshore. It is a transformative 1,047 unit, 513,000 sqft. mixed-use proposal designed to bridge the gap between Cleveland’s rich industrial past and its vibrant future.
Just as electricity flows in currents, Cleveland's history is grounded in the power plants that once fueled its industrial growth. Lake Erie has its own currents, shaping the region's geography and economy. Additionally, Kurentovanje, the lively Slovenian festival, symbolizes the seasonal flow of renewal and community. Together, these “currents” of energy, water, and tradition reflect several of the dynamic forces that have shaped the St. Clair / Superior neighbourhood history and identity. Submission PDF
