recent acquisitions

maxwell bates: the in crowd

This art exhibit brings together a grouping of paintings by iconic western Canadian artist Maxwell Bates that have previously never been seen together. These works, sometimes referred to as 'social paintings' depict the vibrant, tense and often exaggerated social situations found at parties, restaurant outings and gallery openings. The floor layout contains two large floating walls in the center of the exhibit which create a space that’s seen within the paintings themselves.
